課程概述

Perfectionism, perception of “not being good enough”, can be described as the tendency of setting unrealistically high standards for oneself or others around them, which can consequently lead to psychologically distress when the original standards are not fulfilled. Perfectionism can often be tied with work or general performance issues such as stress (Beck, Zosky & Verticchio, 2021), self-criticism, difficulties in dealing with feedback, procrastination, and unrealistic goal setting (Ferguson & Rodway, 1994), and in a recent study has been tied with burnout for social workers (Kinman & Grant, 2022).

This course aims to help students, future helping professionals in training, to gain awareness of how perfectionism and other personal dispositions can negatively impact their work performance, well-being and overall mental health in the short and long term, as well as finding tools to help them combat negative aspects of perfectionism.
